Environmental problems close to where you live carry a special freight of uncertainty. The disconnect between the concerns of community members, government regulators, policy-makers, and responsible parties at polluted sites can at times seem unbridgeable.

I translate information across this divide and enthusiastically work with people at all levels of the environmental investigation process, from local residents to city, state, federal, and Tribal environmental staff and public health professionals. I act as an interface between the sides of often contentious matters and am able to effectively advocate for positive environmental outcomes.

I have provided expert consultation and technical guidance for long-term environmental projects, as well as scientific support for short-term environmental investigations: ecological and human health risk assessments, cleanups, and natural resource damage assessments (NRDAs) for clients around the Northwest including the State of Washington, the Georgetown Community Council, the Duwamish River Cleanup Coalition, Bellingham Baykeeper, and the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation.

Industrial facilities in Canada have discharged pollutants into the Columbia River for over a century. The EPA is investigating the extent of the problem and what can be done to clean up the river and reduce risks to human health and the environment, in partnership with other federal agencies, the state of Washington, the Spokane Tribe, and the Colville Confederated Tribes. I provide scientific oversight of the process on behalf of the Colville Tribes.
